Working hard in room 9.

This week I talked to Mitchell and Kyle about what they have been doing maths,spelling and reading.

For mathematics, Mitchell told me that they are learning about how to work an algorithm this is what Kyle he had to say about it.”First you put 2 or 3 letters into their place value so its easier to work out.

Kyle said that they do really hard word problems called brain benders.They said that they play a game called 21.these are the rules. you must get up to 21 but the aim of the game is to not say 21. Moving on to the next subject.spelling, in room 9 they are doing alphabetical order. here is an example of what they do. Apple bee car dentist and the rest so that’s spelling done. Mitchell said that they have been really busy with reading activities. Kyle told me that they do plays out of school journals and they practice them outside and then they show them in front of  their class and they also do comprehension box ,it’s when you start off with one color like teal and there  are 12 questions and in each color there are ten cards,last year crystal completed 10 colors which is allot .Some people couldn’t even complete one colour so that’s my post for this week salut and good-bye

Room 9 Is Awesome!!!!

Today I spoke to Aimee and Mana about what they have been doing lately.

they have been doing life maps and they have read a book about Steve Irwin and his daughter Bindi about their life maps.

Mana has told me that they have already started their second dragon i bet they look amazing all because the awesome mr Hurly has taught them how.

Mr Hurly is taking time to read the class a book everyday he has told me that he has started to read them the famous book by Rhoald Dahl The witches

The amazing ROOM 9!!

This week I talked to Jason and Crystal about what they have been doing since I last spoke with them.

For art,Crystal has told me that they have done …..DRAGONS!!!!!! They look amazing. First they traced the outside of a dragons body and then went over it in pastel. They used complimentary colours and secondary colours.

In writing the amazing Mr Hurly is teaching them about prefixes and suffixes. That sounds like loads of fun!! Also, they are doing diary entries about what they have experiences. They had to choose 20 topics and then choose one and write about it,every day they must choose one topic and write about it.

Room nine’s art work !!!!

Last week, room 9 started their first piece of art. I spoke to Shardae & Crystal about what they have done. They drew symbols of their holiday. First, they drew 2 drafts and used Big, Bright and bold colours. Shardae drew a beach ball floating in the water, and Crystal drew a baby goat. Crystal went to Staglands.

A focus on production

This term will be a busy term with the upcoming school production, which promises to be a great night. To help promote the school’s production we are continuing to create advertisements in the form of posters to persuade people to come to this great event! We are looking at important information to include, and how to make it visually appealing.

English in room 9

For English we will be working hard in our reading groups and focusing on comprehension based activities to help us gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of what has been read. In our writing we will investigate a range of fairytales and work on creating our own imaginative narrative. This is particularly topical as the production is based alongside many well known fairytales.
